2RS, 2Z or C3 – which to choose?
2RS (two rubber seals) keeps dust and moisture out but limits speed. 2Z (metal shields) does not touch the ring, so it runs faster and cooler but protects less. 2RZ is the compromise – a non-contact seal.
Choose C3 clearance when the bearing runs hot (electric motors, fans) or with a tight shaft fit. Normal clearance CN is enough for ordinary applications.
